Today i woke up at around 10 and got ready for Martha- the missionary over here to pick me at a bridge one down from Triana Bridge which is the one i live by. Im workin on adding some pictures to the blog but im pretty new to all this so we will see about that later=) So i meet Martha the missionary at the round about on the other side of the bridge, a ten minute walk from my house, and she takes me to church which is about 15 minutes from where we are. On the way i tell her about my crazy night takin my friend home and breakin into my own casa hahahaha... and tell her how nuts stuff has been but how excited i am to go to church with her. She tells me a little bit about the church and then we pull up and see the Actons- another missionary family that plants churches that everyone absolutely loves! Im so excited because i really have heard all about them, talked to them on the phone and just need to know who these epic Jesus people are=) So i get inside after takin a sweet pic of me outside the church and as i walk in Im greated my a nice lookin gentle man and a lady and then go and see the two interns, Megan and Andrea so i go say hi to them and give them the Spanish hello kisses on both cheeks and then see Darby another missionary and give her a hug because she is not into the whole kiss on the cheek thing at all=P Then i am introduced to Shanel Acton the mom and see the dad turned around and grab him and say, "Hey my name is Jake" and he says i know, as we shake hands, " I could tell by your smile" What a nice guy, that comment made my morning.
Then church started, worship was first. They had a bass, acuistic guitar, electric guitar, and drums. They sounded really good=) The first song we sang i didn't recognize. But the next one i knew and i sang to and it was just overwhelming to feel Christ in a church bein an ocean from home and American worship and the God i knew to worship in the States. I was just over whelmed as i sang the song "Exalt Thee" we just sand the course and God just overwhelmed me with his holy spirit and gave me feelings of comfort and joy about bein in Sevilla and just how much he had and is doing for me to be standin in this Christian Church worshiping him in Sevilla, Spain. Tears of joy just welled up as i worshiped and that was most def a memory i will never forget and one that i will savor forever.
The message then started and the preacher who was about 55 who wore classes and stood about 5 and a half ft tall gave a message about what the church should look like and who we should be. We should not be religious people because that is not what God called us to be, we should love as he loved. Thats all i got and then filled out the sermon notes which i will look at later and understand ( i really need a spanish bible though) after i start finding the verses in Spanish. Then church ended and me and Martha said hi to a kid named Travis from Missouri in the states=) That was cool to meet him. Then we just got in the car and left... the atmosphere at the church was good but spanish people are not very open to new people, they are very busy people with school, jobs, FAMILY, church but they are not very open to new people. Once you are in there group you are totally in but getting in is so hard and I can not just walk up to people here like i do in the states and invite them to eat, first of all i can't communicate that well, second of all they don't have a Subway we can all go to, and last of all they don't go out to eat they ALWAYS have dinner with their family. So its really different over here and it is takin some getting used to, i have really taken advantage of good friends to because they are super hard to find!
Got dropped off at the bridge again and then walked home and just fell asleep. Then i went on skype and called mom and saw Levi, mom, and finally got to talk to my Dad!!!! That was so exciting to get to see him. Got to just talk to them about school and what is happening with my health and what have ya=) i was so excited to see my pappy and finally got to see him... Levi is lookin good and I got to see him for a sec and talk to him... he is headin back to Laramie for school but I was cut short by bad c0nnections and needin to have dinner with the fam. But once i got out of dinner, but it was so good to talk to them, man do i miss family and hugs from my bro... gonna give him a big long one the second i see him! But when i came in from dinner i come in to see that NATE GURTLER HAD CALLED TWICE!!!
I FREAKED OUT!!! My brotha Nate Gurtler called me... i couldn't believe it i have tried to find him online since i got here! I called him back instantly! He answered right away and i flipped out for a minute and totally just wished that i could give him like the biggest hug ever....WOW DO I MISS HIM! We talked for like an hour and half just about life and Spain and friends and Gus dyin, his dog, and girls, Jesus, music, how Nate is a famous drummer hippie and has been on the news twice already.............and just EVERYTHING! I couldn't believe i was finally getting to talk to him=) Then we called his mom and talked to her for about ten minutes or so=) Then i heard his dad and totally knew he was wearin a shirt and shorts and told him so and was totally right=) But then Nate told me about Ruby thinkin Gus is still alive so i will be prayin for that and then we said our goodbyes and wow....... totally loved every second of talkin with him. He encourages me so much and prays for me everyday and i can not put into words how thankful i am to have him as a friend!!!! God Bless you Nate, I love you brother!
After i got done talkin with him i cleaned up and went to bed=) What an awesome day... Church, Family, Friends and a day to just enjoy peace and joy... Thank you Lord for blessing me with my daily bread=)
